Dr. Denis Anderson (Al Ain)
Dr. Anderson is an international bee pathologist. His research has determined the cause of several unknown bee disorders and in 2000, he achieved international acclaim for discovering the deadly Varroa Destructor Mite. Dr. Anderson is currently based in Al Ain and leads a team to develop a sustainable honeybee industry in the UAE.

Amran Al Sharhan (Dubai)
Amran Al Sharhan is a half Emirati half Omani entrepreneur based in Dubai. He recently launched Asal.ae, an e-commerce that offers a reliable source of raw honey that comes from trustworthy, experienced and ethical Omani beekeepers that use traditional beekeeping methods, and also from mountain bee hunters.

The ​Hobbyists

Zahira
​is a hobby beekeepers who is passionate about bees. She is a co-founders and president of the UAE's 1st Beekeepers Association and set-up an educational Bee Garden at The Sustainable City. She also helps local communities relocate swarms.

Asif Kibria​ (Dubai)
​Asif is one of Dubai's first backyard beekeepers. He is passionate about hobby beekeeping and has appeared in several local TV shows and newspaper to encourage more residents to take up the hobby.

Jonathan Dfrench (Dubai)
​Jonathan is a qualified beekeeper who undertook the British Beekeeping Association (BBA) theory and practical courses. He is an amateur enthusiast who is keen to learn about and help preserve the art of beekeeping in the region and to conserve the indigenous Arabian Dwarf Honeybee.
Jonathan is an active member who helps develop and run our Beekeeping Courses.
